Bail is a release mechanism set by the court. The amount, bond type, and release conditions depend on the case. A surety bond is one way an eligible defendant may satisfy a bond requirement without depositing the full bond amount directly with the court or jail.

What happens after an arrest
- Booking.The arresting agency records the defendant and charge information.
- Bond is set when applicable.A magistrate or court determines the bond or other release conditions.
- Review the available release option.The court may allow cash, surety, personal bond, or another approved form depending on the case.
- Complete surety-bond paperwork.If a surety bond is used, the agreement, payment terms, signer obligations, and any collateral requirements are completed before posting.
- Jail release processing.After the bond is accepted, the jail completes its own release procedures.
